The Information & Broadcasting Ministry has finally come out with a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure streamlined information flow to media during crisis situation like terror attacks and emergency situations.

As per the SOPs,a designated government authority will earmark a nodal ministry/department that will address issues related to the crisis, including media facilitation and also simultaneously intimate the Secretary of the I&B Ministry to activate the SOP.

The nodal ministry will appoint a spokesperson to address all media queries related to the crisis and the concerned state’s Chief Secretary will also be in the loop with a spokesperson at the state level. No other officials will be permitted to interact with the media during the crisis.
