Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad and Delhis Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) have been ranked first and the fourth best airports in their respective categories in the latest Airport Service Quality (ASQ) rankings of the Airports Council International (ACI). While Hyderabad has retained its number one position for the second year in a row in the 5-15 million passengers per annum category,IGIA Delhi stood fourth for handling 25-40 million passengers per annum. Both are operated by the GMR Group-led consortia. Mumbais CST International Airport,run by the GVK-led consortium,ranked second in the 15-25 million passengers per annum category. This league features the worlds best airports such as Incheon-Seoul,Changi-Singapore,and Shanghai Pudong-China. The awards will be presented on April 7 during the ACI Asia Pacific Regional Conference and Exhibition to be held in New Delhi. One hundred and fifty-three airports across the globe,including six Indian airports,participated in the ASQ survey in 2010. As per its agreement with the AAI,the GMR-led IGIA was mandated to achieve a score of 3.75 on the completion of stage II and operationalisation of Terminal 3. Against this,IGIA achieved a rating of 4.49 with 5 being highest. With this years results,Delhi International Airport Limiteds worldwide ranking has improved to 12 rank from last years rank of 32. It is now among the top 10 Airports in the Asia-Pacific Region. Group Chairman of GMR GM Rao said: Its a moment of immense pride for India. This achievement by both airports speaks volumes of how a true public private partnership can be successful. The companys CEO,Corporate (Airport sector) PS Nair said: RGIA was mandated by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to achieve an ASQ rating of 3.50 only by the year 2011-12.
