The police on Saturday arrested eight noted national human rights activists,including award winning documentary film maker Gopal Menon,while they were on their way to Lalgarh to make an on-the-spot study of the prevailing situation. The eight activists,part of a team of the Fact Finding Committee of India,were picked up from Midnaporefor violating prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC that was in force in Lalgarh. The state government also denied permission to former Punjab DGP K P S Gill to visit Lalgarh.
