Hooch tragedy suspect surrenders in court

The prime suspect in the Magrahat-Sangrampur hooch tragedy,Noor Islam Fakir alias Khoda Badshah,surrendered at the sub-divisional court in Diamond Harbour

The prime suspect in the Magrahat-Sangrampur hooch tragedy,Noor Islam Fakir alias Khoda Badshah 48,surrendered at the sub-divisional court in Diamond Harbour on Monday morning.

He will be in our custody for the next 14 days, said K Jayaraman,DIG operations,CID.

Badshah,the owner of a flourishing country liquor business,was missing since mid-December,when 172 people died after consuming hooch from a distillery owned by him. He was held prima facie responsible for the tragedy.

Badshah was accompanied by his lawyers when he arrived at the court on Monday. He told the court he was unwell and had put up in Barasat,Patna and finally Ajmer.

I have no idea about the spurious liquor. I have been framed, Badshah told mediapersons as he was being taken away from the court by sleuths.
