HEMANT Soren will be sworn in as Jharkhands ninth chief minister on Saturday.
Hemant will take oath at 9.30 am at the Raj Bhavan along with a Cabinet minister each representing the Congress and the RJD. The Cabinet is likely to meet the same day and request that the Assembly be convened on July 16 for a floor test, JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said on Thursday.
Chances are that Rajendra Prasad and Annapurna Devi legislative party leaders of the Congress and the RJD,respectively will take oath along with Hemant.
The announcement came as the Union Cabinet recommended revocation of Presidents rule in Jharkhand.
The JMM,Congress and RJD are yet to decide what departments to keep for themselves. With the 2014 general elections in mind, the Congress is reportedly keen to corner for itself those departments that receive most of the central funding. There is also the matter of the seven single-legislator-parties or Independents: Bandhu Tirkey of the Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch, who brought together the other six, could be rewarded with a ministerial position.
The JMM is confident that Nalin Soren and Sita Soren two of its legislators running from the law will be present at the Assembly on Tuesday to vote for the government, which has claimed the support of 43 legislators. Nalin will surely come, there is no arrest warrant pending against him. Sita too will make an appearance. We are exploring legal options regarding her case, said a JMM leader.
