Gujarat model being replicated in UP: Cong

Mistry alleged BJP was hoping to gain in the elections by polarising the voters.

The Congress Monday sharpened its attack on SP accusing it of colluding with BJP for replicating Gujarat model communal riots in Uttar Pradesh to polarise voters with an eye on the Lok Sabha elections.

The Gujarat pattern is being implemented in Uttar Pradesh by Amit Shah and Narendra Modi. SP,which is ruling the state,is colluding. SP and BJP both are colluding to replicate the Gujarat pattern. They have a tacit understanding, Congress general secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh Madhusudan Mistry said.

The Congresss attack on SP and its attempt to project that the SP government let the communal violence happen in Muzaffarnagar is seen as an attempt by the party to tap the apparent discontent among the Muslims,a significant vote bank in the state. Referring to BJP and SP,Mistry said while one is engineering riots, the other is not taking action to polarise votes.

The attack on SP by Congress came on a day Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi visited Muzaffarnagar,a move which BJP and the SP has slammed. SP sought to link the visit with the elections.

Mistry alleged BJP was hoping to gain in the elections by polarising the voters. There is a clear-cut pattern which emerges from Muzaffarnagar riots. BJP is orchestrating things.
