Protectors of peace and justice,the Green Lantern Corps,are threatened by a new enemy, Parallax,who has devious plans of destroying the balance of power in the Universe.The fate of the warriors lies in the hands of their newest recruit and the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan,a gifted but cocky test pilot. While the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans,Hal is confident that with his determination and willpower he will succeed,as he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity.

Green Lantern that stars Blake Livey of Gossip Girl fame,as the spirited Carol Ferris. Ferris has been adapted from a comic book character by the same name that first appeared in DC Comics way back in 1940. The film that offers a reason for comic book fans to rejoice will tell the tale of Hal Jordan,the most prominent and popular of all the Lanterns.

The buzz

Actors including Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake were screen-tested for the lead role of Hal Jordan,which eventually went to Ryan Reynolds. Director Martin Campbell said that Ranys terrific sense of humour helped the actor bag the role.

Green Lantern that will be released in 2D and 3D simultaneously,has a behind-the-scenes creative team led by a number of Academy Award winners,including director of photography Dion Beebe,production designer Grant Major and costume designer Ngila Dickson

The film is based on characters that have appeared in comic books published by DC Comics. The lead character,Green Lantern,has been around as a comic character for almost 60 years
