Govt asks DCs to seek Army help if necessary

A day after the Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla wrote to the Army for help in controlling the unrest in Baramulla and Sopore towns,the state government on Tuesday asked the Deputy Commissioners of the troubled districts in North Kashmir to seek help from the local station commanders of the Army in case the situation gets out of control.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting three state ministers had with security officials in Baramulla town to take stock of the situation arising out of the protests against civilian killings by the security forces. It came a day after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had a detailed meeting with General Officer Commanding,15 Corps.

With protesters controlling the National Highway at different places,Public Health Engineering Minister Taj Mohi-ud-din,Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir and MoS Health Javid Ahmad Dar were flown to Baramulla from Srinagar in a special helicopter. Clashes between protesters and police continued in Baramulla town through out the day.
