Gorshkov price to be fixed in two days

Prolonged negotiations over the price of the Gorshkov aircraft carrier are expected to conclude within the next two days when India and Russia agree on the price escalation of the warship,outgoing Navy Chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta has said.

A Russian team is in the capital and the price negotiations are expected to conclude on Saturday. Price negotiations are well underway. The Russian team is visiting us. The time frame is short. Hopefully day after tomorrow, he said.

Mehta,who demits office on Monday,also sought to tone down his remarks on the relative military strengths of China and India. On Thursday,Mehta said he had never stated that Beijing was more powerful than India.
