Three years after two UT policemen were booked for allegedly raping a 40-year-old Hisar resident,a local Court on Thursday framed charges of gangrape against them.
The Court of Additional and Sessions Judge Lalit Batra framed charges under Section 376 2 g against Inspector Subhash Kundu and Head Constable Mahinder Singh of UT Police,who was posted with CBI on deputation. The charges were framed after an application was moved by the prosecution seeking permission to prosecute the duo on charges of gangrape.
The incident dates back to June 2007 when an FIR was registered in Sector-39 police station. The two policemen allegedly raped the victim,whose husband was involved in a criminal case.
Dissatisfied with the investigations carried out by the Chandigarh Police,the complainant approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court,which handed over the probe to the CBI. According to the prosecution,Kundu along with Singh had visited the womans house in 2004 for investigations. Singh allegedly told her that Kundu wanted to meet her at the rest house,but she declined.
However,it was claimed that Kundu threatened her that if she did not come,he would manipulate the case. It was further added when the woman reached the guesthouse,the duo,in an inebriated state,confined her in a room and later raped her.
