Former CMO ‘confesses’ his role in killing

Former Lucknow chief medical officer (CMO) Dr A K Shukla has reportedly admitted his role in the conspiracy to kill family welfare CMO Dr V K Arya.

Sources said Shukla “confessed” the same during interrogation in police remand on Friday night,without giving details of his role. Shukla was taken in remand on Thursday and the CBI is likely to seek an extension.

Sources said that while Shukla initially kept denying any hand in Arya’s killing,even claiming he didn’t recognise another accused in the case R K Verma,what broke him down was call details of the mobile phones of Shukla,Verma and Y S Sachan,who had been found dead in custody.
