Fodder scam: Charges framed against Lalu

Public Prosecutor Jai Prakash said the court would start trial within a week.

Nine years after a chargesheet was filed against 44 people in one of the cases related to the multi-crore fodder scam,a CBI court on Thursday framed charges against former chief ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Jagannath Mishra,JD-Us Jehanabad MP Jagdish Sharma and 31 others in connection with fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 46 lakh from Banka and Bhagalpur treasuries against forged bills.

Designated CBI Judge V K Srivastava framed charges in the presence of the two former CMs,who denied the accusations and alleged poor CBI investigation. RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav later told the media: You people are making a lot of noise about it. It is just part of a legal process and I have come to abide by it.

Public Prosecutor Jai Prakash said the court would start trial within a week.

Former CM Mishra also accused the CBI of framing false charges against him.
