Ex-defence officers get 4-year term for cheating

A city court Tuesday sentenced three former defence officials to four-year term for causing a loss of over Rs 7.3 crore to the public exchequer.

A city court Tuesday sentenced three former defence officials to four-year term for causing a loss of over Rs 7.3 crore to the public exchequer. The court had on October 22 convicted the trio,retired lieutenant colonel P R S Rao,Captain retd I B S Uppal and assistant audit officer A K Sharma for drawing a set of 20 bills from 1994-1997 for consignments neither demanded nor received. The three had been charged with cheating Government of India to the tune of Rs 7,31,95,480.
