The top military brass of the nation has been invited to the upcoming wedding of the youngest daughter of former Army Chief V K Singh,who is tying the knot with the son of a senior Army Commander.
Gen V K Singh had taken on the government while he was in service on the issue of his date of birth and has made several controversial statements since retiring,prompting speculation over his political ambitions.
The retired officers youngest daughter,Yogja,is marrying the son of Southern Army Commander Ashok Singh at a function that will be held at the former Army Chiefs residence on Mandir Marg. Sources said that the two had been engaged for a while.
While Gen V K Singh had a controversial last few months in office,Lt Gen Ashok Singh was elevated to the rank of an Army Commander in January this year. He was earlier commanding the Mathura-based 1 Corps. If Gen V K Singh had managed to get a 10-month extension from the government if it accepted his contention on his correct date of birth,Lt Gen Ashok Singh would have been the current Army Chief,given the seniority principle that is followed for the appointment. Gen Bikram Singh,the current Army Chief,would have retired as the Eastern Army Commander,pushing Ashok Singh to the top post.
