Concerned by over 12 lakh dissatisfied subscribers whose Provident Fund claims were not settled in the stipulated 30 days, the Employees Provident Fund Organisation is set to spruce up its act and settle all claims within three days.
Customers expect change in the mindset from 30 days to at least three days in computerised era for withdrawing their own money, the EPFO has said in an internal circular, pointing out that of the 1.08 crore claims in 2012-13,12.62 lakh claims were not settled within the 30-day period.
More worryingly, another 1.41 lakh claims were not settled even after 90 days, which has brought down the image of EPFO amongst our members.
The EPFO has now started a Pendency Clearance Drive to settle all claims received before June 15 and said they must be cleared by the month end.
The retirement fund manager has also called for a meeting with all regional PF commissioners on July 5 to finalise an Action Plan for 2013-14 with an estimated 1.2 crore claims.
Out of the likely receipts of 1.20 crore, even if lesser target of 70 per cent claim settlement within 3 days is considered at national level,it will benefit 84 lakh claimants and uplift the image of the EPFO, the internal missive has said.
The move comes at a time when the Employees Provident Fund is already moving to a fully computerised system where all services, including claims for transfer and withdrawal of provident fund will be available online, starting this July.
