Empee Distelleries,flagship arm of Empee Group,has reported a net profit of Rs 17.09 crore for the year ended March 31,this year up by 27 per cent over the nine month period ended March 31,2009.
The city-headquartered company reported a net profit of Rs 10.12 crore for the nine month period ended March 31,2009,Empee Distelleries said in a release.
The total income of the company for the year ended March 31,2010 grew to Rs 851.48 crore from Rs 665.33 crore for the nine month period ended March 31,2009.
The Board of Directors of the company have recommended dividend of Rs six per share on equity shares of Rs 10 each for the year ended March 31,2010 subject to approval.
The company said its power division had its first full year of operation this year and earned a profit of Rs 1.38 crore against a loss of Rs 8.42 crore last year.
On their sugar business whereby the company operates under Empee Sugars and Chemicals,it said the greenfield integrated sugar complex at Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu consisting of 5,000 TCD sugar plant,50MW co-generation plant has started commercial operations during the year.
The company said it has entered into an agreement with Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to sell 25 per cent of the excess power produced over and above captive consumption and the balance 75 per cent to any third parties.
