Mubarak supporters,opponents clash in Cairo
CAIRO: Hundreds of supporters and opponents of Egypts deposed leader have clashed in front of a court considering whether to remove his name from government institutions. Police and judicial officials said about 200 people carrying pictures of Hosni Mubarak and 300 opponents threw stones and water bottles at each other on Thursday,before police and soldiers intervened. The court adjourned,posting the matter to April 14.
Syria offers freedom after 37 protesters killed in crackdown
DERAA: President Bashar al-Assad made an unprecedented pledge of greater freedom and more prosperity to Syrians on Thursday as anger mounted following a crackdown on protesters that left at least 37 dead. As an aide to Assad in Damascus read out a list of decrees,including a possible end to 48 years of emergency rule,a human rights group said a leading pro-democracy activist,Mazen Darwish,had been arrested.
