Editor shot in Guwahati

Unidentified assailants shot dead Anil Mazumdar,executive editor of Aaji,an Assamese daily published from the Assam capital,here on Tuesday night.

He was also the owner of the newspaper. Mazumdar,40,was shot from close range in front of his residence at Rajgarh,a locality in the heart of the city at around 10.15 pm.

The police said the unidentified assailants fired seven rounds on him and he died on the spot. Mazumdar was returning home from his office at Ulubari,about 3 km from his residence,and even as his driver got down to open the residence gate,the assailants opened fire at him.
