The editor of a local weekly, which had first reported the sexual harassment complaint of Rupam Pathak who stabbed to death BJP MLA Raj Kishore Keshri, was questioned by the police on Thursday after an FIR was lodged against him. Purnia Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Amit Kumar said,Journalist Navlesh Pathak has been named an accused in the FIR,besides the main accused,Rupam Pathak. We are trying to ascertain if Navlesh prompted Rupam to kill the MLA,and whether or not Navlesh had been blackmailing the MLA,as alleged by Keshris family. However,Navlesh hasnt been arrested as yet.

Senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi told The Indian Express: The police are investigating all possible angles in this case. No one should attempt character assassination of the MLA,who had a clean image. As for Navlesh,we have learnt about his dubious character. Modi added that Navlesh was a blackmailer. Navlesh had also claimed to have worked as the personal assistant of a politician. He was often seen throwing his weight around at government offices in Purnia, claimed Modi.

The DIG said Navlesh used to bring out a weekly English newspaper discontinued for sometime now that had first carried a report on Keshri and his close aide Bipin Rai allegedly sexually assaulting Rupam in April last year.
