With an increasing number of senior officers writing to VVIPs on matters regarding promotions and postings, the Indian Air Force has issued a letter to all its officers, asking them to refrain from approaching persons like the PM,President and politicians for service matters.

The letter, which bars officers from communicating IAF-related matters to outsiders, says that in recent time, there has been an increase in such aberrations. According to rules and the Air Force Act,officers are legally bound not to talk about promotion and posting-related matters to outsiders. The usual route taken to bypass the above rule is that such letters are in the name of well wishers or family members.

The IAF has now made it clear that no such cases will be tolerated in the future. Sources said that if the practice continued after the warning given, exemplary punishment would be awarded to offenders.
