Dimple to contest LS bypoll from Kannauj

The central parliamentary board took notice of the wishes and demands of workers in Kannauj. Several workers had approached Mulayam Singh to field Dimple as they had emotional bonding with Akhilesh. We respected workers demands because they are responsible for the victory of any candidate, said senior leader Ramgopal Yadav.

He denied it as nepotism stating that people only see family affair business in SP and not other parties.

The board meeting was attended by six members out of seven and Akhilesh was special invitee. It was unanimous decision by the board, said Ramgopal.

Besides this the board also decided not to allot party symbol to candidates in upcoming local bodies polls. It has been done as allotment of symbols would have hampered the aspirations of many candidates. There are many workers who want to contest the polls and only one could be given the symbol. Now party symbol will not be given to anyone, said Ramgopal.

He also categorically stated that symbol will also not allotted to anyone running for the post of Mayor. Everybody is free to contest the local bodies polls, he said.

Maya allows cadres to contest civic polls

In a U-turn from her earlier stand against BSPs participation in the upcoming local bodies elections,former chief minister and party president Mayawati has now decided that her partys leaders and workers can contest the polls,but without using BSPs symbol and its flags. Also,they wont be using the names or pictures of party founder Kanshiram and Mayawati in the campaign materials.
