With his transgender avatar and a killer attitude,Prashant Narayanan was the surprise package of Murder 2. While on screen it looked like quite an effort, but in reality it wasnt too difficult for him to portray such a character. He explains,When I read the script,I realised that my role demanded me to do something loud,so right from the beginning I had taken care to control my performance. I wanted it to look natural. He further adds,I played a transgender for the first time, but I did not do any kind of research. In fact,I never do research for any of my roles. I take a proper brief from the director and then follow it with full honesty. I have faith in my director and do whatever he asks me to do. I never chip in and throw ideas at him. If I want to do something on my own then I might as well be the director instead of being an actor!
Prashant says that he was not apprehensive about playing a transgender. On the contrary,he was happy to do such a different role as he could experiment as an actor. He is also happy with the audiences reaction to his performance. The other day when I was at the screening of Murder 2,people actually showed me the goose bumps that they got while watching me on screen.
While shooting,he knew that he looked good in the jazzy costume and jewellery. But I never felt uncomfortable. At first,I thought that the ghaghra might be heavy but in fact,it was light. I looked so hot in that attire that half the time I was looking at myself in the mirror! jokes the actor.
Talking about his camaraderie with his co-stars Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez,Prashant says,While shooting in Goa,I became friends with them. But I never got a chance to go out with them and roam about in the city as my look was supposed to be a secret. So I used to hang out with my friends in Goa. The talented performer says that he is still in touch with the duo and at times chats with them and has even exchanged congratulatory messages over the success of the film.
Prashant, who was last seen in Yeh Saali Zindagi and Bhindi Baazaar Inc,has always done dark characters. Now in order to add some variety to his repertoire,he will soon be learning Jazz and Ballet for a musical film that he is penning right now. He also plans to play the male lead,a dancer,in it.
Prashant also has an interesting line-up of new releases. He will next be seen in White Elephant with Tannishtha Chatterjee. A light-hearted film,it is based on an elephant and him. Then there is Woh Rasgulle,a comedy and Doors,a love story.
The actor, who is also doing Phulva on Colors, has plans of quitting the show as he feels that he is overworked. Post-Murder 2,he says that he has become demanding and would take up any other show only if he is paid really well. He finds TV very time-consuming and says that the long working hours drain him completely.
Murder 2 is his first film with the Bhatts,so is he going to be a part of their camp now? The actor replies candidly,I cannot be part of any camp. Change is very important for me. What matters to me is a good script.
