CVC must quit: BJP

Central Vigilance Commissioner P J Thomass offer to recuse himself from monitoring the CBI probe into the 2G scandal.

Central Vigilance Commissioner P J Thomass offer to recuse himself from monitoring the CBI probe into the 2G scandal has not impressed the BJP,which has been demanding his ouster. The party on Wednesday reaffirmed its demand that he be sacked.

Reacting to the governments statement in the Supreme Court that Thomas has offered to recuse himself from overseeing the 2G probe, senior BJP leader S S Ahluwalia said the CVCs mandate was to probe all corruption-related cases and he simply cannot pick and choose. He said it was surprising to know that Thomas was not resigning despite adverse remarks from the court.

The CVC is appointed to keep a vigilant eye on any corruption happening in the country. He is not there just to probe small cases. If he will not look into the biggest scam that the country has ever seen, then what will he do,look into the theft of government petrol? Ahluwalia asked.

He reiterated the BJPs charge that Thomass appointment was against the norms.
