Real cops were present on the sets of Payback for Gulshan Grover to imbibe their body language and mannerisms.
He has donned the khaki before, but Gulshan Grover will be seen as a Maharashtrian cop for the first time in Payback.
Helmed by debutant director,Sachin Karande,Payback is a racy action thriller which unfolds in one night. The film is the story of an insurance agent newcomer Munish Khan who gets caught in a gang war in his overzealous attempt to help a sharpshooter who had saved his life in an accident.
Gulshan Grover, who has always been known as a bad man, will be seen in a new light as an upright cop,Inspector Sawant. There are subtle differences in the mannerisms and body language of cops from Northern and Western India. Their postures, attitude and even the way they flick their mobiles from their shirt pockets are completely different. Mumbai policemen also use Marathi expressions. So we always had some cops on the sets to ensure that Gulshan imbibed all these nuances. He was the most energetic on the sets and extremely enthusiastic about his part. He has done a remarkable job in the film, said Karande.
Made on a budget of about three crores,Payback, which also stars Sara Khan and Zakir Hussain, pays special thanks to the Mumbai Police in its credits.
