Congress MP from K Sudhakaran has come out against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy over suspension of six office-bearers of the Kerala Police Association, saying the CM has the obligation to protect the dignity of peoples representatives.
Sudhakaran,a loyalist of Union minister Vayalar Ravi, was angry over the suspension of the policemen for placing a poster near a police camp in Kannur hailing him.
The MP had given Rs 10 lakh from his local area development fund for a swimming pool at the camp. The Kannur district police chief suspended the six leaders and ordered removal of the poster.
Sudhakaran felt the suspension was an insult to him,but Chandy said the policemen had violated regulations.
The MP said his poster was erected at a public place. If that was against rule, why not remove the poster of CM in government offices. The CM has the responsibility to protect the dignity of peoples representatives, he said.
