Chandy,CPM differ on treasure

The Congress-led UDF government in Kerala on Tuesday made it clear that it did not agree with the CPMs view that the huge wealth found in the vaults of the Padmanabhaswamy temple are public assets.

The Congress-led UDF government in Kerala on Tuesday made it clear that it did not agree with the CPMs view that the huge wealth found in the vaults of the Padmanabhaswamy temple are public assets. The CPM on Monday said the treasure belonged to the public and it should be managed in a democratic manner. Party state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said the governing of the temple should be brought under a body like the temple affairs board of Sree Krishna temple at Guruvayur. I am of the view that the treasures found in the temple vaults are assets of the temple, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Tuesday. He also did not agree with the suggestion that an administrative body be set up to manage the temple affairs.
