Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati targeted the Congress-led UPA government on the occasion of completion of three years of BSP rule in the state on Thursday. She accused the Centre of hatching a conspiracy to keep UP a backward state.
She also released a booklet titled Kendriya Sahayata Ka Kadua Sacha wa Uttar Pradesh Ki Upeksha (The bitter truth of Central assistance and ignorance of UP). The booklet contained information regarding the Centres failure to release its share for the proper implementation of various Centrally-sponsored schemes on time, besides her governments achievements. It seems the Central government had been conspiring to keep Uttar Pradesh backward, which should be strongly opposed, a press release issued in the CMs name by the states Information and Public Relation Department, said.
The booklet is apparently an attempt to counter the Congress Party that continues to attack her government for not properly utilising Central funds during its Yatra programme across the state. Mayawatis attack against the Centre has come close on the heels of her partys support to the UPA on the issue of cut motion recently moved by the Opposition parties in Parliament.
The Centre has showed step-motherly treatment towards the UP government in almost every matter. Had the Centre released its share meant for various schemes on time, the state would have given better results, Mayawati told reporters at her press conference in Lucknow on Thursday. However, she described her governments achievements in the last three years as Ati Utsahvardhak (highly encouraging). Mayawati claimed that her government could not receive about Rs 17,000 crore as a part of the Centres share for different schemes during the last three years of her rule.
The celebration of three years of Maya government remained a low-key affair. She highlighted her achievements, including the reservation for SC/ST in the government contracts, appointment of about 88000 primary school teachers/ over 1 lakh safai karmachari, besides creation of 25 lakhs new posts in the Police Department.
