Censor Board member held for stealing colleagues jewellery

A Censor Board member has been arrested for allegedly stealing diamond jewellery worth Rs 5.25 lakh from a colleague during a film screening,police said Saturday.

A Censor Board member has been arrested for allegedly stealing diamond jewellery worth Rs 5.25 lakh from a colleague during a film screening,police said Saturday.

Kiran Srivastava,45,and Meenakshi Singh were at the screening of a Bhojpuri film on March 4. After the screening,Kiran found two diamond rings and a necklace missing from her purse,police said. She searched but in vain. Meenakshi and three other members of the Censor Board and theatre staff joined her in the search for the jewellery.

Kiran then registered an FIR. While examining CCTV footage,Meenakshis movements were found to be suspicious. On questioning,she confessed to the crime, police said. The jewellery was recovered from her residence. She was later granted bail.
