The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a former assistant GM of State Bank of India and registered a case against its deputy MD and a businessman for alleged graft.
CBI said a team of Economic Offences Wing in Mumbai has registered a case against deputy MD Shyamal Acharya who is also the head of mid-corporate wing of SBI,former assistant general manager KK Kumarah and a businessman Piyush Goyal.
The agency said Goyal wanted a loan of over Rs 100 crore from SBI when Kumarah got involved. The former assistant GM assured Goyal of his contacts in the bank through which he could get that loan passed. Kumarah allegedly demanded Rs 25 lakh and an undisclosed amount for Acharya to get this loan passed.
On the basis of source information,CBI laid a trap and carried out searches during which Kumarah was arrested with the money. CBI teams also searched the residences of Acharya,Kumarah and Goyal in Mumbai and Kolkata.
