Bus falls into canal,19 dead

A private bus carrying people from Ghaziabad to Budaun fell into a canal,leading to the death of 19 persons,including 11 minors,in Dibai area of Bulandshahr district early on Monday morning.

A private bus carrying people from Ghaziabad to Budaun fell into a canal,leading to the death of 19 persons,including 11 minors,in Dibai area of Bulandshahr district early on Monday morning.

The victims,all natives of Ghosli village in Jarif Nagar police station area of Budaun,were on their way to cast their votes in the panchayat elections along with their family members.

The Circle Officer CO of Dibai area,Jagat Ram Joshi said the bus UP14 P-5384 was booked by a group of labourers staying at Khoda area in Ghaziabad for their native place in Budaun. The bus was on its way when the driver lost control over the steering and the vehicle fell into the Chhoiya canal,crashing the railings of the bridge.

The locals managed to pull the bus out of the canal with the help of ropes. However,19 of the occupants had died by then while 14 were rescued.
