Scientists develop mouse model of typhoid fever

New York: Scientists,led by Indian-American microbiologist Sankar Ghosh,have developed the first mouse model of typhoid fever that could help in creating more effective vaccines against the deadly pathogen. Researchers from the Columbia University found that since mice show human-like symptoms and respond positively to immunisation,they could be used to develop more effective vaccines.

2 UK pilots fall asleep mid-air

London: Two pilots working for UK airlines have been found to have fallen asleep while in sole charge of passenger planes thousands of feet up in the air. Both men were left alone in the cockpit when co-pilots left the flight deck,the Civil Aviation Authority revealed. The authorities refused to name the airlines.
