TOKYO: A strong earthquake has rattled northeastern Japan,leaving seven people injured. No tsunami warning was issued. The Fire and Disaster Management Agency said the magnitude-6.5 earthquake struck at 3:54 am Sunday off the coast of Fukushima,a region struck by the March 11 massive quake and tsunami. The epicentre was 57 km below the sea surface.

UK man dies after playing computer games

LONDON: A 20-year-old man in Britain has died after playing computer games on his Xbox for 12 hours,a report said. An autopsy has revealed Chris Staniforth,who never had serious health problems,actually died from a blood clot which formed as a result of marathon gaming sessions,The Sun reported.

MANILA: The Philippine coast guard rescued 168 people who were on board a ship that tilted for three hours before sinking Sunday,officials said. Steel-hulled M/V Asia Malaysia was heading from Cebu region to Iloilo province when it began to tilt. Cause of the problem was unclear.
