Giffords released from hospital

Houston: US lawmaker Gabrielle Giffords was on Thursday released from hospital,five months after being shot in the head during a political event in Tuscon,Arizona. Giffords has shown clear,continuous improvement from the moment she arrived, Dr Gerard Francisco,the hospitals chief medical officer said. We are very excited that she has reached the next phase of her rehabilitation and can begin outpatient treatment, Francisco said.

Gay marriage on menu for Gillard dinner

CANBERRA: Australian gay and lesbian couples will try to change Prime Minister Julia Gillards opposition to same-sex marriage when they dine at her official residence after activists won a charity auction. Gillard had offered to host the dinner for any six guests at an auction during the National Press Gallerys annual charity ball on Wednesday. The highest bidder was the activist group GetUP!,which offered 31,000 Australian dollars.

Argentinas 1st gay divorce since law

BUENOS AIRES: Argentina is about to have its first gay divorce,not quite a year after a groundbreaking law legalised homosexual marriage. The Argentine Federation of Lesbians,Gays,Bisexuals and Transsexuals says the divorce involves a female couple who have only been married since April 20.
