Body of missing Japanese climber found in Himalayas

Kathmandu: The body of a Japanese climber,who was swept away by an avalanche along with two other team members and a guide on the 8,163-metre high Dhaulagiri peak in eastern Himalayas,has been recovered. The climber has been identified as Daisuke Honda,District Police Office Myagdi said on Saturday. Honda and two other Japanese climbers,along with their Nepalese guide,were on an expedition to Mt Dhaulagiri when an avalanche struck them on September 29. The fate of two other Japanese climbers and their guide is still not known.

Pregnant Pakistani woman burnt in UK

London: A 23-year-old pregnant Pakistani woman,who had moved to Britain early this year after marriage,was burnt to death here,though it was not yet clear if it was a case of suicide. Asiyah Khan had arrived in the country earlier this year and was living with her husband Naveed,mother-in-law and two sisters-in-law. The family members found the house locked on Friday when they returned home from shopping. The womans husband then climbed over the gate only to find his wifes charred body in the back garden,the Daily Mail reported.

China,Japan rally over disputed island

BEIJING: Thousands of Chinese protested against Japan and its claim to the disputed Diaoyu islands at demonstrations on Saturday. Xinhua said more than 2,000 protested in Chengdu and thousands of college students gathered in the northern city of Xian. In Tokyo,2,500 people marched near the Chinese Embassy to protest Chinas claim to the islands. They also called for the release of Nobel winner Liu Xiaobo.
