Israel approves inquiry into flotilla raid

JERUSALEM: Israels Cabinet on Monday approved an investigation into the navys deadly raid on a flotilla carrying pro-Palestinian activists bound for Gaza that will include two respected foreign observers. Nine people were killed on May 31,when naval commandos clashed with activists on board a Turkish ship headed to Gaza. In consultation with key ally US,Israel agreed to add two high-ranking foreign observers to bolster the credibility of the probe: David Trimble,a Nobel peace laureate from Northern Ireland,and Canadas former chief military prosecutor,retired Brig. Gen. Ken Watkin.

Dubai may seek extradition of spy

DUBAI: Dubai may seek the extradition of an alleged Mossad spy arrested in Poland on suspicion of involvement in the killing of a Hamas operative in the Emirates. Police Chief Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim said a request may come if a direct link to the assassination on our soil is established. The detained man,Uri Brodsky,is suspected of working for Mossad to issue a fake German passport to a member of a hit-squad that allegedly killed Hamass Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai in January.

Indians murder in NZ: Man held in China

MELBOURNE: A 23-year-old man,wanted for the brutal murder of an Indian taxi driver in New Zealand,has been arrested by Chinese authorities,over four months after the crime,police said on Monday. Hiren Mohini,39,was stabbed after taking a fare from downtown Auckland to suburban Mt Eden on January 31. The accused man,who was arrested in Shanghai on June 10,has been granted interim name suppression,the New Zealand Herald reported. However,another website stuff.co.nz said the man has been identified as Zhen Xiao.
