Chinese convicted of exporting defence components

WASHINGTON: Two Chinese nationals,including one residing in the US,have been found guilty of exporting electronic components used in defence related equipment to military entities in China. A Massachusetts court also convicted a firm,owned by one of the defendants. A federal jury convicted Zhen Zhou Wu aka Alex Wu,Yufeng Wei aka Annie Wei and Chitron Electronics Inc,of unlawfully exporting defence articles.

Malawi: Gay couple guilty of indecency

BLANTYRE: A judge convicted a gay couple in Malawi on Tuesday of unnatural acts and gross indecency. Steven Monjeza,26,and Tiwonge Chimbalanga,20,had been jailed since their arrest on December 27,the day after their engagement.

German girls freed in Yemen fine: Berlin

BERLIN: Two German child hostages freed in Yemen were in relatively good health and would return home on Wednesday,German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said on Tuesday. Westerwelle said in a statement that the two girls were in the care of Saudi authorities.

France arrests 14 in plot to free prisoner

PARIS: The French police on Tuesday arrested 14 men suspected of plotting a prison break-out to free an Islamist militant who took part in the bloody 1995 Paris Metro bombings,a judicial source said. The 14 men are suspected of planning the escape of Ali Belkacem,an Algerian national sentenced to life for the bombing of the Musee dOrsay train station.
