On Holocaust memorial day,Israel warns of threat from Iran

JERUSALEM: Israel used the solemn occasion of Mondays annual Holocaust memorial day to call on the world to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and to draw new attention to the plight of the dwindling number of survivors. The wail of air raid sirens pierced the air for two minutes as the country came to a standstill remembering the six million Jews who perished in World War II. If we have learned anything from the Holocaust,it is that we must not be silent or be deterred in the face of evil, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

Priest accused of child porn possession

VIENNA: Austrian authorities have launched legal proceedings against a Catholic priest accused of possessing child pornography and sharing it with others online. Prosecution spokesman Erich Habitzl in the eastern city of Wiener Neustadt says the priest is not in custody but will soon have to defend himself in court. Habitzl did not identify the priest. Public broadcaster ORF reported that investigators secured more than 400 files on the priests computer and that he has since been relieved of all his religious duties.

Kyrgyz President warns of bloodshed

TEYYIT: Kyrgyzstans interim government said on Monday it was planning a special operation against ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiyev,who warned any attempt to seize him would result in bloodshed. Let them try to seize me. Let them try to kill me, Bakiyev told reporters in his stronghold in the south of the country. I believe this will lead to such a great deal of bloodshed which no one will be able to justify, Bakiyev said,making his first public appearance since troops fired on protesters in Bishkek.

Blast outside MI5 HQ in Northern Ireland

BELFAST: Republican dissidents exploded a bomb by the headquarters of the British intelligence services in Northern Ireland on Monday,injuring one person,minutes after the transfer of police and justice powers from London. The Real IRA claimed responsibility for the blast in a call to local media. The taxi driver got out and shouted Its a bomb,its a bomb! and we were evacuating the area when it exploded, a police spokeswoman said.
