NEW YORK: The Statue of Liberty will close for a year in October as it undergoes a 27.25 million renovation to make the interior safer and more accessible,US Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar said Wednesday. Liberty Island,however,will remain open.

Syrian forces kill 11 in restive town

BEIRUT: Syrian troops shot dead 11 in the western town of Qusair near the Lebanese border,and stormed the town of Saraqeb near Turkeys border on Thursday,activists said.
