France in talks with Gbagbo for surrender
GHANA: Frances Prime Minister,François Fillon,said French representatives were negotiating the surrender of Ivory Coasts strongman,Laurent Gbagbo,a day after the UN and France struck targets at his residence and offices. Reports suggested Gbagbo was hiding in a bunker beneath his residence.

Michel Martelly wins Haiti poll
PORT-AU-PRINCE: Musician Michel Sweet Micky Martelly scored a victory Monday in Haitis presidential runoff,according to preliminary results from last months election. Martelly got nearly 68 per cent of the vote in the two-way race with Mirlande Manigat,an electoral council spokesman said.
Ozone layer faces record loss in Arctic
GENEVA: The World Meteorological Organisation said Tuesday the Earths ozone layer in the Arctic region has suffered a loss of about 40 per cent from the start of winter until late March exceeding previous seasonal loss of about 30 per cent. Depletion has been caused by harmful chemicals and cold winter.
Hunt on for remains of Mona Lisa model
ROME: Researchers said they will dig up bones in a Florence convent to identify remains of a woman believed to be the model for Mona Lisa. The project launched Tuesday aims to locate remains of Lisa Gherardini,wife of silk merchant Francesco del Giocondo,who has been linked to painting.
