Cong showcause to Sadhu Yadav
Patna: Congress on Tuesday asked its leader Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav to explain by April 14 why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for alleged anti-party activities. We have asked Sadhu Yadav to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken him for anti-party activities in keeping with the constitution of the Congress, state Congress general secretary Kaukab Kadri said in a press statement here. Kadri alleged that supporters of the former MP had shouted slogans and showed black flags against the partys state chief Anil Sharma in Gopalganj on Monday.
Sinking building being demolished
Coimbatore: A sinking under construction building here is being demolished by the Slum Clearance Board,Board sources said. The building,housing 48 flats,in Ammankulam,started sinking and slanted more than 10 degrees from Friday last week,causing panic. The flats were meant to be distributed among those evacuated from slums which encroached the banks of various water bodies. The board started demolishing the building,being constructed under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission,on Tuesday.
One killed in water dispute in MP
Ratlam MP: A 35-year-old man was on Tuesday shot dead over a water dispute at Ramsingh Darbar Mandir area near here,the police said. Accused Ramsingh shot dead Ramchandra Prajapth after the deceased,who had come to fetch drinking water,asked him to stop washing his motorbike from a public borewell. Prajapat died on the spot,the police said adding a case has been registered against Ramsingh who is absconding.
HC rejects plea seeking fresh Malegaon probe
Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday dismissed the petition filed by three accused in 2006 Malegaon blast case seeking fresh probe by SIT. Division Bench of Justices D B Bhosale and A R Joshi said petitioners may approach the trial court with their plea. The petition alleged that an affidavit filed by one Abrar Ahmed,an approver in the case,indicated that petitioners had been implicated. The court,however,said it cannot verify truthfulness of Abrars affidavit and petitioners may move the trial court.
One killed,100 hurt in Assam storm
Nalbari: One person was killed and over 100 injured when a powerful storm lashed 39 villages in the district. The storm,which came on Monday night,damaged more than 500 houses,business establishments and school buildings in Borkhetri revenue circle. More than 100 families had been rendered homeless in Rampur,Daulahal,Bamunbori,Kaplabori and Losina villages. Assam Revenue Minister Dr Bhumidhar Barman visited the affected villages.
