Bhattal suspended from Punjab House,pardoned
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Assembly on Thursday pardoned Leader of Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal after a privileges committee report indicted her of breach of privilege and recommended a seven-day suspension from the House. The committee was set up after members staged a protest during the last session on December 10 seeking removal of the Speaker. The report held Bhattal guilty of tarnishing the image of the Speaker and obstructing him from discharging his constitutional duty.

BANGALORE: The Karnataka HC Thursday restrained local TV channels from airing the obscene,uncensored and private bedroom scenes of godman Swami Nityananda with a Tamil actress. The court passed the order on a PIL filed by former BJP MLA K N Subba Reddy.
Lt Gen Rath accused of intent to defraud
NEW DELHI: Army has charged Lt Gen P K Rath,an accused in the Sukna land scam case,with granting NOC to a private realtor with an intent to defraud,even as his counsel claimed the Court of Inquiry did not talk of any such intent during its probe into the Rs 300 crore scam. Rath has been charged under Section 52 of the Army Act,under which he can face 10 years jail.
Five of family electrocuted in Bihar
MUZAFFARPUR: Five family members,including two women and a child,were electrocuted when a high-voltage wire fell on them while they were working at a field at Sahdadpur village in Muzaffarpur on Thursday,police said.
