Rs 1 lakh reward for suspected SIMI activist
BHOPAL: A day after a suspected activist of banned outfit SIMI killed three persons,including an ATS constable,in Khandwa district,the Madhya Pradesh Police on Sunday announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head and have decided to release his sketch shortly for his identification and arrest. Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police S K Raut announced the reward for facilitating the identification and arrest of the culprit,Nimar Police Range Deputy Inspector General DIG G Janardhan said.
Gawli daughter meets Rane son
Mumbai: Ahead of the elections for the post of mayor,Akhil Bhartiya Sena ABS corporator Geeta Gawli met Nitesh Rane,son of Narayan Rane. While Geeta downplayed the meeting as 8220;personal8221;,it has sparked rumours of ABS support to the Congress candidate in the Mayor elections to be held on December 1. The ABS supports the Shiv Sena in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation BMC. The total strength of the Sena-BJP combine in the BMC is 115,which include two ABS corporators. The Congress-led Opposition has 110 seats.
Pakistani detainees escape from jail
Srinagar: Two Pakistani villagers who had strayed into this side of the Line of Control from PoKs Kalakote teshsil escaped from Uri police station on Saturday night. Amin Badshah and Gowhar Rehman,both 25,were being considered for deportation as they had completed their sentences,police said. SSP,Baramulla,Viplav Kumar said the the police personnel responsible for the negligence would be taken to task.
Army jawan found dead in Pune
Pune: An Army jawan was found dead on the old Rajendra Sinhji Institute RSI campus on East Street in Camp here on Sunday. Neither the police nor the Army confirmed the death. The body was reportedly taken to the Command Hospital for autopsy. Hospital sources said the jawan had allegedly shot himself,but said it could be confirmed only after the autopsy on Monday.
Grant AIIMS tag to SKMCH: Nitish to PM
PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to accord AIIMS status to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital SKMCH. Kumar sent a letter to the PM after a few MPs from Bihar,including former union minister and RJD MP Raghuvansh Prasad Singh,wrote to him recently for the upgradation of SKMCH and according AIIMS status to it.
Arunachal BJP president shot at
ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh BJP state unit president and MLA Tangor Tapak was shot at by unknown gunmen in his constituency Pasighat West,the police said on Sunday. Sources said the gunmen shot at him from close range on Friday evening but the bullets missed Tapak and he was safe. The car was severely damaged,the police said.
World Anti-Obesity Day: MP CM pedals
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday rode a bicycle from his official residence at Shyamla Hills to TT Nagar Stadium to attend a function organised to mark the World Anti-Obesity Day. Chouhan pedalled nearly two km,waving at the onlookers who cheered him along the way,to reach the venue.
