BIJNORE: Seven persons were killed and at least 12 others injured when the tempo in which they were travelling collided with an oil tanker in Kotwali Dehat area on Thursday,police said. Six of the deceased including the driver and three women have been identified,police said. The driver of the oil tanker has been arrested,they said.

Hamid Ansari to attend CHOGM

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will not attend the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meet CHOGM to be held in Australia where India will be represented by Vice President Hamid Ansari. Sources said Ansari will attend the Summit of 53-nation grouping in Perth being held from October 28 to 30.

Former DMK minister arrested

TUTICORIN: Former DMK minister and Tiruchendur Assembly constituency MLA,Anitha Radhakrishnan,has been arrested for allegedly instigating a murder attempt on a DMK functionary,police said on Thursday. A case under Section 120 B of the IPC criminal conspiracy was registered against him.
