Minor girl raped,killed in UP

Unnao: A minor girl was allegedly raped and later killed by unidentified persons in Safipur area,the police said here on Sunday. The body of a 10-year-old girl,who had been missing since Friday night,was recovered from a field in Brahmna village on Saturday evening,they said. The villagers alleged that the girl was raped and later killed.

10 Lankan fishermen apprehended

Chennai: The Coast Guard Eastern region has apprehended 10 Sri Lankan fishermen and two Lankan fishing boats and for allegedly fishing in Indian waters. The boats,Chejana and Kulanputha,were seized 120 km from Kakinada on Saturday night,an official release said. Adding that the boats had a combined 5,000 kg of fish on board,it said the two vessels were being taken to the Kakinada Port for handing over to the police. This is the eighth such apprehension of Lankan fishermen and boats in 2011.

Youth beaten to death in MP

Indore: A youngster in love with a girl was allegedly beaten to death by miscreants in Ushaganj Chavani area on Saturday night,the police said. Rohit Sonkar 20,succumbed to his injuries at the M Y Hospital,they said. The deceased was stabbed with a sharp edged weapon all over his body,and then beaten up badly,they said. A student of BBA,he was in love with a girl who had rejected his marriage proposal,the police said.

Minister Bhurias house burgled

Indore: The house of Union Minister of Tribal Affairs and president of MP Congress Kantilal Bhuria,located at Scheme No 78 here,was burgled in the wee hours of Sunday,the police said. According to police,two LCD TVs,cash and other gadgets have been stolen,however,the estimate of the loss is yet to be ascertained. The guard,who was on duty at the time,later went missing. Ministers son and a Congress leader Vikrant Bhuria has lodged an FIR.

Tigress found dead near Jim Corbett

Dehra Dun: The decomposed carcass of a six-year-old tigress was found in Kaladhungi range of Ramnagar forest division,near Jim Corbett National park,an official said on Sunday. The carcass was found near a canal during a routine patrol by forest guards on Saturday,said Ravindra Juyal,Divisional Forest Officer of Ramnagar. A postmortem of the tigress has indicated that it died naturally,Juyal said.

Seven arrested for drivers murder

Bangalore: Seven persons were arrested in connection with the alleged murder of an autodriver,the police said. The accused,who were arrested on Saturday,allegedly murdered the victim near Bidadi,about 40 km from here,on May 23 because he failed to pay them hafta,the police said.

25 govt employees suspended in Valley

Srinagar: Over two dozen government employees,including 11 teachers,have been placed under suspension for dereliction of duty during the ongoing panchayat polls in Anantnag district of South Kashmir,an official spokesman said on Sunday. District Panchayat Election Officer Anantnag Syed Kifayat Hussian Rizvi ordered the suspension of the 25 employees of various departments for allegedly being absent during the poll,the spokesman said.
