Age against Montek in race for IMF chief post

New Delhi: The chances of Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia figuring in the race for appointment as Managing Director of International Monetary Fund IMF appears to have dimmed with age being not on his side. He Ahluwalia would have been an excellent candidate in my view except that we have just pronounced the by-laws that the Managing Director of IMF must be 65 or younger. Unless these by-laws are changed,he cant be really put on as a candidate,8221; IMF executive director Arvind Virmani told NDTV.

DLF gets I-T notices for over R1,700 cr

Mumbai: Income tax department has issued additional tax notices for over Rs 1,700 crore pertaining to assessment year 2008-09 to realty major DLF while the income tax department disallowed profits on SEZ projects. The company said it is challenging the orders with appropriate authorities and is confident that the additional demand so created will not be sustained. Pending the order of the appellate authorities,no provision has been made in these consolidated results, the company said.
