BMW for VVIPs

The Central government has asked all state governments to buy bullet-proof BMW cars for movement of VVIPs like President and Prime Minister in the capitals.

These cars are worth Rs 2 crore almost, said Ajit Pawar,in justification of the hike in car allowance for ministers in the state from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. Pawar said that there was need to hike car allowance as the cost of vehicles had gone up in the last decade.

Small cars are not safe and can lead to fatal accidents. We need proper large cars to ensure safety and increase in cost has prompted the decision to hike the allowance, said Pawar.
