Research In Motion on Tuesday introduced BlackBerry Mobile Fusion, which it claims will simplify management of smartphones and tablets running BlackBerry,Google Android and Apple iOS operating systems, especially for enterprises. The companys next-generation enterprise mobility solution will also mark its entry into the multi-platform Mobile Device Management MDM marketplace.

Mobile Fusion will make it easier for our business and government customers to manage the diversity of devices in their operations today, said Alan Panezic,vice-president,Enterprise Product Management and Marketing at RIM. He said Mobile Fusion brings together RIMs enterprise server technology for BlackBerry devices with mobile device management capabilities for iOS and Android devices, all managed from one web-based console.

It provides the necessary management capabilities to allow IT departments to confidently oversee the use of both company-owned and employee-owned mobile devices within their organisations. In other words, the solution will let IT managers implement administrative controls similar to BlackBerry devices to other phones used by employees.

BlackBerry features like remote wipe and lock on stolen on lost mobile devices will be available for all smartphones used by its employees,if companies implement the solution.

RIM claims it is the leading provider of enterprise mobility solutions with over 90 per cent of the Fortune 500 provisioning BlackBerry devices today. While mobile fusion is now in a beta testing stage with some enterprises a full rollout is expected early next year. Mobile Fusion is also expected to be expanded to Windows Phones by then.
