BJP seeks Cong apology for linking Advani with Radia

The war of words between the BJP and the Congress is showing no signs of ending.

The war of words between the BJP and the Congress is showing no signs of ending, with the main opposition party on Sunday asking the ruling party to tender a apology for levelling what it called baseless allegations against L K Advani.

Sources said Advani was upset after the Congress sought to link him with corporate lobbyist Niira Radia as the tug-of-war between the two parties over the 2G scam heightened.

BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad wondered why the Congress is not offering a public apology to L K Advani despite the fact that its allegations that Advani had attended the foundation-laying ceremony of a trust controlled by Radia have proved to be completely false, baseless and malicious.

The BJP reaffirmed that the NDA did not allot any land to a Radia-controlled trust. Advani had attended a stone- laying ceremony of a trust of Pejawar Swami for which the land was allotted by the P V Narasimha Rao and United Front governments. One was a Congress government while the other was supported by it, Prasad said.

Despite this falsehood being exposed, the Congress doesnt have the courtesy to offer an apology to a leader of the stature of Advani, he said.

The Congress had played such dirty tricks in the past as well. At the height of the Bofors controversy, the Congress raked up the St Kitts case to deflect attention, he added.
