The BJP on Monday alleged a multi-crore scam in allocation of coal blocks by the UPA government.
Claiming the Centre allotted 73 coal blocks free of cost to 143 private players between 2006 and 2009,the party demanded a SC-monitored inquiry and special audit by the CAG into the allocation process. The party did not provide evidence.

The BJP said while the Mines and Minerals Act Amendment Bill,proposing auction in place of free allotment on first-cum-first-served basis,was pending,the Centre surreptitiously gifted 73 coal blocks with 17 billion metric tonne reserves worth Rs 51 lakh crore.
