A day after he addressed a rally here demanding special category status for Bihar,Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia on Monday to carry forward his demand.
After meeting the PM and the FM,Nitish felt that they will make some forward move.
It would be matter of great happiness if they move forward, he said. They have listened to me intently, he added. Bihar,he said,ranked lower than even those states,which were placed in the special category.
We are fighting a battle,which has now entered a decisive phase, Nitish said,adding that either the Centre will make a forward move on this count,or else,we will take a decision.
When asked how long would he wait,the Chief Minister said,The time-frame is automatically fixed8230;How much time of this government is left?8230; Elections are due in 20148230;If they do something in this period,they can get the benefit of it.
On whether a closeness to the Congress would help his party realise its goal,the CM said,This struggle for special status has no political meaning. If any politics is involved in it,it is the politics of development.
